This year’s trip to Montauk was full of our old favorites and a bunch of new adventures. We kicked off our week with our annual picnic at Hither Hill by the lighthouse. The views are spectacular and the playground was a hit.
At the Quogue Wildlife Refuge we got an up-close look at the animals that live in Montauk. We also learned about how long it takes different things to break down in the environment. We all agreed to stay away from styrofoam because it never breaks down! Afterwards, we stopped at our favorite ice cream shop, John’s Drive In for a sweet treat. We splashed around in the pool on the days we weren’t exploring the beach. We had a blast at Rita's stable, the horses were just excited to see us as we were to see them! We learned their names and had a wonderful ride around the ranch. We explored the 3 floors of The East Hampton Marine Museum. There we learned about the history of whaling in the area, why it was important, and why the practices had to change. We even saw a huge whale skull! The local library put on a few events for us specifically, including a henna workshop and movie night complete with a snack station. We ended our week of fun with a picnic at Flander’s Duck.
