WEEKLY UPDATES
Every week, guardians will receive an email that details what your child will need for the week. We’ll give a brief rundown of the week and spotlight a few exciting activities. We will be sure to always include the drop-off / pick-up location for your convenience.
SMALL GROUPS
Our family sized cohorts give children individualized attention. Not many camps can match our staff to student ratio of 1:8! No group will have more than 10 campers.
“Our 11-year-old son, Kgari, attended 4 summer programs last year. FOUR. He resented one, loved another, hated the other, and he THRIVED at Kids Passport for Adventure! I am sending this email because, I believe in it! If you're looking for a great experience for your child this summer, try this camp! I'm pretty sure you'll love it too!”
ADVENTURES INCLUDE:
Every day holds new adventures. Here are just a few that we’re looking forward to!
Swimming • Gardening • Hiking • Canoeing • Beach trips • Tie-Dyeing • Animal visits • Science experiments • Cooking lessons • Camp carnival • Kayaking • Scavenger hunts • Special guests • Sky Zone • and so much more!
AGE RANGE
The age range of our campers is 4-14.
Will my child be hanging out with campers much younger or older than them?
No! We split campers into small family-sized cohorts, with no more than 10 kids in every group. Each group will be comprised of campers around the same age, with usually only a 1-3 year difference between the youngest member and the oldest.
SWIMMING
Everyday, in Harriman State Park, your adventurer will have the chance to cool down in our beautiful lake. We have a certified lifeguard on the premises to keep everyone safe. There are 2 options for swimmers. For beginners, we have natural pools built into the lake with a depth of about 3.5 feet. Comfortable swimmers have access to the lake within a roped off area. All campers participate in a test prior to swimming to determine the best fit!
F.A.Q’s
When does summer camp begin and end?
Our summer camp runs from June 29th - August 28th.
We’ll be offering a bonus week: August 31st - Sept. 3rd for $525
What are camp hours?
8:00am - 5:00pm
What is the age range?
5-14
Will my child be with children that are much older or younger?
No, your child will be in a group of 5 to 8 other campers around their age.
The groups are as follows:
The Voyagers: 4 - 7 year olds
The Explorers: 8 - 10 year olds
The Trail Blazers: 11 - 14 year olds
Is there a deposit required?
Yes, there is $100 non-refundable deposit required to hold your place when you register. This deposit will be applied towards your balance. The adventure must be paid in full before your child’s start date.
What is your refund policy?
You must notify us 2 weeks in advance for a full refund (not including the non-refundable deposit). This is because we are holding a space for your child, if they do not come, we need enough time to offer their space to another interested camper.
If you notify us less than 2 weeks in advance, your balance can be applied towards another KPTA adventure.
If you have any specific concerns, feel free to email us!
What is camp price?
Only $475 per week.
Payment plans are available.
Is there a minimum amount of weeks to sign my child up for?
Yes, to foster a strong sense of comfort and routine, we require a minimum of 2 weeks for enrollment.
Does my child have to sign up for the whole summer? Can my child start later in the summer or finish early?
As long as you sign your child up for the minimum amount of 2 weeks, they can begin or end their KPTA summer camp experience any week of your choosing. You are free to add on weeks as you go. As long as we’re not fully booked, you will be accepted to our camp! Please note, first timers sign up for 2 weeks “just to see how it is” and their kids have so much fun that they usually sign up for the rest of the summer. This means, around the end of June, the rest of our summer quickly sells out. Please plan in advance!
Do I have to sign up for consecutive (back-to-back) weeks?
We strongly recommend that your child attend their first two weeks consecutively. If you’d like to add on weeks throughout the summer, that’s fine! A camper who would like to do the Fire Island week must attend the week before, no exceptions.
Are there any discounts for enrolling more than 1 child?
If you have more than 1 child you are enrolling and are looking for a sibling discount, please email us at kidspassporttoadventure@gmail.com
What is the daily schedule?
Everyday is different! Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays, and most Fridays, we’ll be at our upstate campsite. While there, we’ll enjoy all sorts of camp fun and splash around in our private lake front area everyday. Activities include: animal visits, tie dying, science experiments, sports games, scavenger hunts, and more! On Wednesdays, we’ll enjoy a day of horseback riding (for an additional fee of $25 for campers that would like to ride a horse). For other campers, there’s plenty to explore at
Are there scholarships or financial aid?
Our goal is to make it possible for every child to have amazing experiences. As a small not-for-profit organization with limited funds, we try to be as generous as possible for families with severe financial issues by providing financial aid. If you would like to apply please be prepared to provide proof of income. Email us at: kidspassporttoadventure@gmail.com
Is this a sleepover camp?
No, everyday our KPTA bus will transport your child to and from our property in Harriman State Park. We offer 1 week long sleepover option to fire island, and 1 week long sleepover option at our upstate campsite.
What does my child need to bring?
Please pack a NUT-FREE lunch, water bottle (we’re an eco-conscious group), bathing suit, towel, and appropriate water shoes. We’ll bring the smiles and the fun!
Where is the pick-up / drop-off location?
We have 2 KPTA locations for your convenience. One in Washington Heights and one in central Harlem. For your child’s safety, the exact location is not listed on our website. When you sign up, we will send the exact address.
